For entry to the Honey Bees class children must be at least 2.5 years old at the start of the school year in August. It is preferred if children are potty trained though not essential. Honey Bees is the perfect introduction to a group setting and to preschool. There are numerous opportunities for self-directed play in our thoughtfully planned classrooms where curiosity and creativity are encouraged. Play is essential for children to develop socially, emotionally, physically and mentally. We have adopted some of the Handwriting Without Tears ® materials in our classroom and use this alongside our own thoughtfully planned activities. Our goal is to maintain a joyful and playful environment while guiding the development of the whole child.

Children in all our Pre-K classes benefit from one on one handwriting instruction on a daily basis using Handwriting Without Tears ®. So what is STEM? STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Our STEM class encourages natural curiosity encourages children to question, hypothesize, observe, explore and build. Children will have the materials to put their ideas into action, reflect on them, then figure out how they can take this idea or process up another notch! Monthly themes include Earth Science, Engineering, the Science of storytelling, Chemistry, Botany and more. Early exposure to STEM supports children’s overall academic growth, develops early critical thinking and reasoning skills, and enhances later interest in STEM study and careers. You will be amazed by how your child grows in intellect and confidence. Children should be 4 years old by December 2019.

Our curriculum was developed to meet the growing readiness skills required for kindergarten while still balancing time for play and respecting the growth of the whole child. We believe children learn in different ways and therefore use multi-sensory teaching strategies and materials. At Busy Bees children learn while exploring, doing, experimenting, building, singing, designing, talking, observing and listening. Our classes are playful, joyful and fun. Our Pre-K curriculum has been thoughtfully planned to provide numerous opportunities to build skills and understanding. The main areas of development we nurture are Fine Motor Development, Language and Literacy, Mathematics and Social and Emotional Development. Our approach to teaching addresses different learning styles, builds on what children already know, and recognizes that not all children are ready developmentally to learn the same skill. With many open-ended activities and teacher support, we enable all children to thrive and grow. Our goal is to provide a rich and nurturing environment where children discover they are able to do many things. Having this confidence will lead to ongoing success in Kindergarten.Book a Tour
